The second section (leaves 1-80) is titled "Memoranda relating to Robert Johnson, pupil of Beilby & Bewick." Figures and illustrations are tipped in to indicate where they should be positioned in the book.
Envelope tipped in on front pastedown with illustrated clippings and figures.
Manuscript note on title-page: "Should I not determine to go to press with the matter herein contained, I promised the first offer of it to Julia Boyd. Joseph Crawhall. Feb. 14th 1887. 2 Sydenham Terrace Newcastle on Tyne."
