Teodoro Tapia Polanco was born on December 30, 1955, in Holguín, Cuba.

He is a poet, translator, and professor. He studied Russian language and literature at the University of Havana and worked as a translator at the Information Centre of Instituto Superior Pedagógico de Holguín (ISPH). In 1989, Polanco won one of the six prizes awarded at the 1st International Symposium on Literary Translation in Havana. In 1991, he published a book of poetry, "Homenaje: Poesia". His work appeared in several anthologies, including "Antologia de Ambito: Poesia" (1991?), "Provincia del universo" (1993), "El valle de las delicias" (1994), and "Puente del tiempo" (2006). He resides in Canada.
