History

Dr. Henry Stolterfoth was born on September 26, 1836, in Dover, Kent, England.

He was a physician at the Chester Royal Infirmary from 1871. He served as a Magistrate, Alderman, Sheriff (1892-1893), Justice of the Peace, and Mayor (1898-1899) of Chester. He was also an amateur naturalist who collected plants and published articles in the Proceedings of the Chester Society of Natural Science. His herbarium is found in the Natural History Museum, London.

In 1882, he married Mary Elizabeth Price (1841-1926). He died on October 4, 1907, in Chester, Cheshire, England.
