The series consists of poem drafts and poem fragments, sometimes accompanied by sketches, primarily written on notecards, leaves of paper, and in notebooks. The materials are primarily handwritten in pencil and ink, with some typewritten content, spanning the years 1978 to 1990. Many items, including notecards, sketches, and manuscripts, are dated. There are several unique items such as a McGill notebook, a green student workbook, and envelopes containing cut-up phrases. The series also includes some personal notes, letters, and memorabilia, such as a homemade Christmas card and a letter from Jack Spicer.
