Mentions that the four lines of progress for Oxford are Pharmacology, Hygiene, the History of Medicine, and a clinic -pathological laboratory in connection with the Infirmary. Everywhere except in England, Pharmacology is making rapid strides. Mentions that he can testify Prof Abel's department in connection with the Johns Hopkins Medical School is very successful. Suggests that they should ask for a full professorship. Strathcona had promised a bequest for the purpose but withdrew at the financial crisis. He had given a bequest to the Medical School at Montreal. Osler has hesitations to go to him again, but will do.
