She thanks Chapin for sending provisions and money. The McGill Unit has a very hard time and has broken up for the time being. She suspects that there has been political interference on the part of the "wretched" Canadian Minister of War, Sam Hughes. Archie Malloch has joined the Canadian Army Medical Corps. Sister Amette from Ewelme as been to visit.

Hopes that Grace sent on to her the letters of the latter which are amusing. Tribute to Grace who is the life of the work room. The country realizes at last the gravity and the greatness of the task. His opinion is that as long as the Navy holds the seas Germany is in a tight place. An inconclusive peace would be a disaster and would mean a repetition of war in another ten years. Civilities. Word about the fire in the dining room.

Letter to Susan Revere Chapin from Grace Revere Osler, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. Joan MacKenzie has arrived and is helping Archie Malloch with a paper. Lady Osler reports that several Oxford women have opened a canteen and have had great success. Jack Osler will go to France instead of Egypt. She writes of Hugh, Campbell Gwyn, Revere, Harry Wright and Palmer, and of their war related activities. Adèle lost the Matron of her hospital, Miss Wedgewood, "an impossible person." Osler was asked to arrange the funeral for his young cousin, Stewart Thorne, only to find out after all the arrangements had been made that it was not his cousin after all. Lady Osler has dismissed her chauffeur Peasely, and hopes that Benning will return. She is to have lunch with Collis.
