    Scope and content

Correspondence consists of letters between Mavis Gallant and William Weintraub. The earliest letters are from 1950, shortly after Gallant moved to Paris from Montreal. Weintraub writes from Montreal, and then in 1951 he too travels to Europe and writes from locations in Italy, France and Spain. This early period of correspondence leaves off in 1951. The letters pick up again in 1984 and continue until 2001, as Gallant remains in Paris and Weintraub in Montreal. Topics of discussion include their careers, Quebec politics, their travels, and mutual friends such as Mordechai Richler and Brian Moore.
