Letter from Robert Woolsey, 23 August 1787
Item
1 sheet
Robert Woolsey was a Quebec City merchant born in Portadown, Ireland. He migrated to Lower Canada with his brother, John William Woolsey in the 1760s. By the 1770s, Robert had partnered with George Gregory as Gregory & Woolsey, specializing in importing and distributing dry goods. He also partnered with Edward O'Hara as Woolsey & O'Hara between 1780 and 1790, a business which specialized in clothing, fabric, and shoes.
Letter from R. Woolsey to Morrison about business, including the sale of wax and candles, and a description of a social event involving the prince (possibly Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn), likely his birthday celebrations on 21 August.
