    Biographical history

    Charles Léonard Lepallieur was born on 4 June 1766, the son of Charles Lepallieur and Louise Roy. He decided to embark on a career as a fur trader in 1790, heading out to Michilimackinac, and later to the north-eastern United States. Though he initially had very poor luck with his business, he eventually found some success.
