Fonds documents A.A. Mackay's medical activities at No. 2 C.C.S. (Casualty Clearing Station) in 1917. The fonds contains two army books of correspondence of Field Service in which case reports are recorded.

Collection consists of handwritten letter attributed to Lt. Col. John McCrae's mother, Janet Simpson Eckford McCrae. Letter is postmarked 28 February 1918 and sent from Guelph, Ontario, to Miss Janet Gow in Windsor, Ontario. Letter discusses the illness, death, and funeral of John McCrae. Collection also includes a letter transcription and information about the family compiled by donor.
