Stansfield's student notebooks comprise three volumes of the geology lectures of Dr. Marr (1904). Research notes include laboratory records and a draft article on dolomite, and scattered notes on palaeontology and stratigraphy. His work as a teacher is documented by lecture notes on economic geography for a course given to McGill commerce students (1911).
This fonds consists of a degree of Bachelor of Applied Science, McGill University, 1896, and diploma of Associate Member of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers, 1907, issued to John William Hunter.
Ross compiled most of these papers as a Governor of McGill University and particularly with fund raising campaigns in 1911 and the Centennial Campaign of 1921. There is a scrapbook on the 1911 campaign and a volume containing plans for the 1920-1921 campaign. Included are addresses given to church groups, 1922-1940 and a general business letterbook, 1912-1916. There is also a file of correspondence relating to the search for a Principal in 1935.
The fonds is divided into two series: the first contains lecture notes and coursework from his studies. The second contains professional papers and is divided into two subseries. The first subseries contains records relating to his activities at the University of Alberta. The second subseries contains records generated during his time at McGill University.
Gould's papers fall into two series. Family correspondence covers the years 1856 to 1860, when Joseph and his brother Charles were travelling in Europe, and consists of letters home from both young men, and their parents' replies. Manuscript music comprises two volumes of church anthems, with some organ music; some are original compositions by Gould and Samuel Warren. Related to this is Gould's brief manuscript account of the origin of the Mendelssohn Choir. Some family photographs are also included.
