Caption on the back reads: "Associated Press photo from Washington Bureau, Please credit (AP), Caution watch credit! Frank T. Davies of the Physics Department of McGill University, Montreal, is preparing himself, at the laboratory here of the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism of the Carnegie Institution of Washington to perform his part as a member of the Byrd Antarctic Expedition. His principle duties will include the observation with extremely delicate instruments of magnetic, atmospheric, electrical and other physical conditions in the South Polar region.
