History

James Everett Wilson Currier was born on July 28, 1849, in Ottawa, Ontario.

He was a civil servant. For several years, he was engaged in the lumber business with his father Joseph Merrill Currier (1824-1884), a member of parliament for Ottawa. After retiring from the lumber business, Currier entered the civil service and was private secretary to a few ministers of the crown. He was well connected to the city’s political and cultural elite. He enjoyed skeet shooting and skating and was a regular at the Governor General’s parties.

In 1876, he married Florence Augusta Slater (1859–1914). In 1914, he married Sarah Florence Pratt (1878–1931). He died on March 27, 1919, in Ottawa, Ontario.
