        History

        Rev. William Ralph Cruikshank was born on May 21, 1847, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

        He was a Presbyterian minister and educator who served Montreal pastoral and church community for half a century. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, he served as principal, professor of Bible literature and history and was on the Board of Directors at Brantford Ladies' College, Ontario. He also represented the Home Missions Committee of the Montreal Presbytery.

        In 1888, he married Marion Patterson Melville (1859–1900). In 1902, he remarried Frances Mary Miller (1877–1966). He died on March 26, 1936, in Montreal, Quebec.
