History

Francis Butler Caulfield was born on December 23, 1845, in Tyrone, Ulster, Ireland to Rev. Wilberforce Caulfield (1809–1872) and Catherine Butler (1807-1858).

In 1848, he moved to New York City with his family. They later relocated to Montreal, Quebec where Caulfield worked as a taxidermist.

In 1872, he married Maria Clements (1855–?). He died on March 14, 1892.
