History

John Gordon Broome was born on November 12, 1849, in Zante, Ionian Islands, Greece.

He was a geologist, a Fellow of the Geological Society (F.G.S.) who worked for the office of the Geological Survey of Canada. He grew up in England and in 1871, he moved to Toronto, Ontario. He was also an Associate of the Royal School of Mines in London, England. In the 1870s, he published articles in the Scientific American and the Canadian Naturalist.

He died in 1886 in Canada.
