Part of James Forbes Zoological Drawings
Item consists of one page featuring three colour illustrations of birds cut out and pasted on a leaf, including: Black-winged Stilt (hand-coloured cut-and-paste engraving), Common Kingfisher (hand-coloured cut-and-paste engraving), and Sarus Crane (watercolour and ink). Later handwritten captions identify the birds as: Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus), Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis), and Sarus Crane (Megaloris antigone). An additional note indicates that the drawing of the crane corresponds to volume II, page 288 of Forbes's "Oriental Memoirs" (the "Sahras or Demoiselle of Guzerat.")
