Aesop was an Ancient Greek fabulist or story teller credited with a number of fables now collectively known as Aesop's Fables; little is known with certainty, but he is thought to have been born about 620 BCE

Rebound: newer calf with blind triple fillet border on covers (rubbed; front cover detached); five raised bands on spine with red leather label with binder's title in one compartment and a single fruit ornament surrounded by triple fillet border in the rest; side-edges in gilt patterned tool; patterned tool stamped blind on turn-ins; marbled endpapers; stained red edges; blue silk bookmark bound in at head of spine.
