Edward P. Hurd received his M.D., C.M. from McGill in 1865. He practiced in Danville, Quebec until 1870, when he moved to Newburyport, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Newburyport School Committee and director of the public library for 7 years. He was appointed city physician in 1871 and remained city physician until 1885. He became district medical examiner for the district of Essex in 1893.

He wrote extensively for the Boston Medical and Surgical Journal, the Medical Age of Detroit and the Therapeutic Gazette of Philadelphia. He also translated French and German medical works.

Huntington, E. A. (Ezra Abel), 1813-1901

Ezra Abel Huntington was born on June 12, 1813, in Columbus, Chenango County, New York.

He was a clergyman and educator. He graduated from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y. in 1833 and for a time he was a teacher. He took a private course in theology at Schenectady and was admitted to the Third Presbyterian Church in Auburn, N.Y. (1837-1855). In 1855, he became a Professor of Biblical Criticism and de facto President of Auburn Theological Seminary and lectured there until his death in 1901. He was not only a professor but also a librarian of the seminary, and the head of the beneficiary funds. Several of his sermons and funeral discourses were published. He received Honorary Doctor of Divinity (1847) and LL.D. (1883) degrees from Columbia University.

In 1839, he married Anna Euphemia Van Vechten (1817–1866) and in 1868, he married Katherine Van Vechten (1825–1926). He died on July 14, 1901, in Auburn, Cayuga County, New York.
