Sir John Edward Kynaston Studd, 1st Baronet, was born on July 26, 1858, in Pewsey, Wiltshire, England.

He was a British cricketer, businessman, and Lord Mayor of London. He studied at Eton College and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was the captain of the cricket team. In the 1908 London Summer Olympic Games, Studd carried the flag for Great Britain. In 1903, he became president of the Royal Polytechnic Institute, a position he held until his death. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in the 1919 New Year Honours. After serving as Sheriff of London (1922–1923), he was knighted in 1923. In 1928, Studd became Lord Mayor of London and was created Baronet in 1929. The Studd Trophy for athletic achievement at the Royal Polytechnic Institution is named in his honour.

In 1884, he married Hilda Proctor-Beauchamp (1858–1921), and in 1924, he remarried Alexandra Lieven (1879–1974). He died on January 14, 1944, in London, England.

Struthers, Robert Baxter, 1858-1908

Robert Baxter Struthers was born in 1858 in Philipsburg, Quebec. The son of a machinist, Struthers worked as a schoolteacher in Philipsburg before obtaining his M.D. He received his M.D., C.M. from the Faculty of Medicine of McGill University in 1883. He resided and practiced in Sudbury, Ontario, as a physician. He died of heart failure in 1908.
