John Thompson Blois was born on September 22, 1809, in New Haven, Connecticut.
He was a civil engineer and an attorney from Connecticut who established residence in Detroit in 1836 and subsequently practiced law in Jonesville, Michigan. He served as Register of Deeds and Justice of the Peace in Jonesville. He was an author of “Gazetteer of the State of Michigan, in Three Parts, in 1838”, packed with solid and detailed information on the state of Michigan.
He married Ormina N. Warriner. He died on June 8, 1886, in Jonesville, Michigan.
Blondeau, Maurice-Regis, 1734-1809
Born in Montréal, Maurice-Régis Blondeau was an important fur trader in the northwest. He partnered with a number of other merchants, including Jean-Baptiste Cadot, a fur trader in the Michigan region. A founding member of the Beaver Club, Blondeau was also a justice of the peace and militia officer in Montreal.
