Blackadar, Catherine, 1808-1894
Catherine McQueen was born November 3, 1808 in Newcastle, New Brunswick. She married Henry N. Blackader, a lawyer in Pictou, Nova Scotia and member of the Nova Scotia Assembly. She died January 18, 1894 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Henry Nichol Blackadar was born November 11, 1803 in Halifax Nova Scotia. He was a lawyer in Pictou, Nova Scotia, and a member of the Nova Scotia Assembly. He died November 22, 1852 in Pictou, Nova Scotia.
A.D. Blackader joined the staff of the Faculty of Medicine of McGill University in 1882 as Instructor in Diseases of Children. Subsequently he was Professor of Materia Medica and Therapeutics (1892-1894), Pharmacology and Therapeutics (1895-1921), Diseases of Children (1906-1921) and Pediatrics (1912-1921). He was acting Dean of the Faculty (1915-1918) and Emeritus Professor of Pharmacology (1921-1932).
Blackader, Gordon H. (Gordon Home)
Gordon Home Blackader (1885-1916) was born in Montreal and studied both at McGill University and at the Atelier Laloux in Paris, which was affiliated with the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris. In 1908 he worked at the offices of McKim, Mead and White. In 1912 Blackader formed a partnership with Barott and Daniel T. Webster. The Blackader-Lauterman Library of McGill University is named in his honour.
